As far as I know there are no whales in fresh water. You’ll have to travel to meet a whale. In Denmark there is no place more than 50 km from the sea, so we have a good chance seeing whales – the small ones are common ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harbour_porpoise ) but many people here do not count them as whales. They are so small.
I saw large whales in Sea World, Florida in 1997. Killer whales and bowhead whales.
And now this summer I saw several, ten perhaps. Probably all humpbacks. Most of them from a ship, but also three from the shore. They are huge. The females can be more than 50 feet. It was spectacular seeing one of them jumping completely out of the water.
This one from a ship.
Thank you for asking Gerry.
I would like to see a whale someday, but I suspect that will not happen. Did you see it from shore or from a ship?
